ITZ-Homepage: Iberia takes delivery of last A340

November 28, 2011

The Spanish flag carrier lberia has integrated another Airbus A340-600 into its fleet. The airline said it was the 17th A340-600 in all, and the fifth that it had received this year. The newest Airbus, which was named “Ciudad de México” (Mexico City) to mark Iberia’s 60 years of serving Mexico, is a special model, as it is probably the last A340 to go to a normal airline. The European plane maker has built a total of 377 such units, but does not have any more orders for more four-engine units. The long haul A340, with its four engines, is practically identical to the A330, which is fitted with two engines.
