‎Qatar Airways’ first 787 Boeing Dreamliner is out… | Doha News

June 28, 2012

‎Qatar Airways’ first 787 Boeing Dreamliner is out of the manufacturer’s US paint hanger and will be heading to the Farnborough Airshow in the UK for display next month. From there the company plans to run it on a scheduled service from Doha to London Heathrow.

The airline has ordered 60 of the 787 aircraft, which Boeing says uses 20% less fuel than similarly-sized planes; its most fuel-efficient airliner ever.

What else makes the Dreamliner so dreamy? The aircraft’s interior features bigger windows fitted with digital window tinting rather than blinds, higher humidity in the cabin (so the air isn’t so dry) and increased cabin pressure for greater passenger comfort.

Qatar Airways passengers, though, will see some additional perks, like every seat being fitted with a power outlet and USB charger, not to mention an in-flight entertainment system powered by Google’s Android platform and operated with an Android-based touchscreen controller.
