Video: Samsung bricked, cheap usb jig without resistors – YouTube

September 6, 2012

I bricked my Captivate. Made a usb jig. (should work for other samsung phones too)

The paper was folder twice always across its lenght. On both sides of the fold graphite from a pencil was heavily applied to both sides. Wires on paper clips can be slid back and forth for the desired resistance ~300Kohm-330Kohm although the closer to 300 the better. Even one Kohm below 300 doesn’t seem to work though.

Caution. After getting the right amount of resistance, keep movement to a minimum to ensure that it doesn’t change on you. So plug in carefully.

*In Canada we only have the source now and getting resistors is a pain

**Also: either solder the wires to the paper clips, or attach to the paper clips where its holding on to the paper to minimize wire movement (makes for unstable resistance otherwise) Also if the paper clip has a natural spread, reverse it before putting it on the paper, although this is not really important
